TeraThink was recently recognized as one of the Top Workplaces in Washington, D.C. by the Washington Post. One of the reasons why we are regularly recognized as a top workplace is our community efforts. As the lead for TeraThink’s Community Service Team, I wanted to once again share some of the great and impactful things our employees have recently been involved with in the community.
Celebrating Ten Years
TeraThink’s longest lasting partnership in the community is with the Mattie Miracle Cancer Foundation. We have been supporting Mattie Miracle in a number of ways for over eight years. This past May was the 10th Anniversary of the Mattie Miracle Walk and Family Festival! In previous years, we have been the Presenting Sponsor of the Mattie Miracle Festival. To celebrate and honor the 10th anniversary of the event, we increased our sponsorship level this year.
True to form, this year’s event is was the biggest one yet. They blew past the goal of raising $100,000. Now more children fighting cancer, and their families, will receive access to quarterly psychosocial and mental health care while undergoing intense medical treatment.
Dulles Airport Honor Flight
Also in May, TeraThink employees greeted America’s veterans from across the country at Dulles Airport. We did this in support of the Honor Flight Network as veterans flew into town to visit their memorials. Honor Flight consistently proves to be an inspirational and moving event for our employees to participate in. We saw the veterans of some of our country’s biggest wars moved to tears by the reception they were given. It was awe inspiring and is a sight that many of us will never forget.
Children’s Inn at NIH Dinner
One of our favorite events occurred this past Spring, as ten of our employees headed to Bethesda to cook dinner for the residents at The Children’s Inn at NIH. This time, our team put together a Make Your Own Pasta Salad Bar, which not surprisingly was a huge hit for the families staying at the Inn. TeraThink also recently supported the Children’s Inn at their Evening of Hope annual gala, where they raised over $1,000,000!
We going back to the Children’s Inn next month to cook another dinner. We return regularly and look forward to creating new meals to help those families.
Later this year, we have other community activities planned, including returning to the Capital Area Food Bank, Sunrise Senior Living Center, and sponsoring the Walk to End Alzheimer’s! As you can tell, involvement in the community is a big part of the TeraThink Culture. TeraThink would not be able to make such a big impact in the community without our employees who volunteer their time and efforts to help those who need assistance.
We continue to donate time, energy, and money to several worthy organizations. This is all part our Core Value, Share It! which we constantly strive to embody. Please check out our Community Outreach page if you want to know more about how TeraThink works to make our community a better place.
