Deborah Lee James Joins TeraThink Board of Directors

By Paul Lombardi | Mar 12, 2018

Board Member, Madame Secretary Deborah Lee James

I am proud to announce the appointment of Madame Secretary Deborah Lee James to our Board of Directors, effective immediately. James joins myself, our CEO Dan Maguire, and Doug Wagoner on the TeraThink board. Created after our merger with Dominion Consulting last November, the board is charged with steering the overall direction and overarching policies of the organization. Adding someone of her stature to our board is sure to have a lasting effect on our company’s ability to be an impactful force in the Federal realm.

I asked Madame Secretary about joining TeraThink’s Board of Directors. What she shared added to my excitement for her joining the board.

TeraThink puts its customers and employees first, which is why I’m honored to join the board of such a fast growing technology and consulting firm. I look forward to joining this high performing team to help improve the operational effectiveness and business processes of our government clients.

Talking Agile Content Services at NCC-AIIM

By Laurence Hart | Feb 8, 2018

Russ Stalters presenting at January 2018 NCC-AIIM meeting

Recently, I was at the local NCC-AIIM Chapter meeting. Russ Stalters was visiting from Texas and shared the story about how he created a new, 200+ person, data management team for the BP Gulf Coast Restoration Organization. A separate organizational entity from BP, the organization was stood up in 90 days from vision to operation. It was an impressive tale involving massive amounts of information being absorbed and managed in a highly visible environment.

As Russ spoke, it became clear that two of the key lessons were around agile processes and content analytics. It generated some great discussion that took us well past the scheduled time. I wanted to take some time to share some of the highlights.

Helping Lombardi Cancer Center Raise Money to Fight Cancer While Enjoying a Night Out

By Glen Lyle | Dec 4, 2017

TeraThink all dressed up at the 2017 Lombardi GalaAt TeraThink, we strongly believe in giving back to our local community.  The Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center is one local organization with global reach that our company supports. The Lombardi Cancer Center’s mission is to “prevent, treat, and cure cancers by linking scientific discovery, expert and compassionate patient care, quality education, and partnership with the community.”

Of course, as with any non-profit organization, fundraising is a top priority for the Lombardi Cancer Center. Each year, The Lombardi Gala raises a large amount of money to fund research, clinical trials, and develop new treatments for those who are battling cancer. I have served on the Gala’s Corporate Executive Committee for the past five years. Through this experience, I know first-hand how much work goes into ensuring that the Gala’s fundraising goals are hit. I am proud to say that not only did we reach our fundraising goals this year but we greatly exceeded them!

As if DevOps was Not Enough…DevSecOps

By Mitch Spector | Oct 26, 2017

Just when you think you've found a way through to completion, a new wallAs success with DevOps continues to make progress, it ventures into taking on other areas where traditional SDLC / IT practices have been less than optimal. Alongside this need, the IT Security technical landscape has been in rapid transition, making it near impossible for security teams to keep up with both increased DevOps velocity and the changing security landscape. Now, teaming up security in the continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) model has a potential to be a game changer.

In the beginning, the movement started out being called DevOpsSec. ‘Sec’ was appended on to the end – almost like a caboose on a train – an afterthought. But in reality, security must be thought of, designed, and practiced throughout the process. In light of this, the more current term is DevSecOps – one where we weave security into our integration. Originally,  marketing hype from each security software vendor clouded the concept.  But, the movement is less about tools, and more about the way in which we work together, in parallel.

Building the Local Agile Community at AgileDC 2017

By Courtney Bristow | Oct 23, 2017

Andrew Clay Shafer proclaims "Agile doesn't work, people do," while gives giving the keynote for AgileDC https://twitter.com/manojvp/status/919909801903128576)TeraThink had the privilege of attending and sponsoring AgileDC last week. AgileDC is a great event every year. It brings the DC area’s best and brightest thought leaders and practitioners to talk about agile trends, best practices, experiences, and how to grow our practices and community. This event has much more of a community feel than many of the larger conferences and events, which I really appreciate and value. You can focus on forming new relationships and broadening your knowledge of local partners and clients, which benefits everyone.
