Bikes for the World Outreach Event
On November 19, 2011 Bikes for the World and 17 enthusiastic volunteers from TeraThink successfully loaded a container of 508 bicycles and 4 sewing machines destined for Costa Rica.
The crew loaded the 40′, 3,000-cubic feet shipping container in 4.5 hours, a new Bikes for the World speed record.
At the same time, TeraThink’s “apprentice mechanics” also compacted some 150 bikes with guidance from BfW volunteer Bob Evans, and reorganized the Lorton storage facility, the former Lorton Prison gymnasium, leaving it ready to load another container later this winter.
